On The Middle, Frankie (Patricia Heaton) and Mike (Neil Flynn) are caught in the middle of a longstanding family feud. Frankie’s dad Tag (Jerry Van Dyke) hasn’t seen his estranged big brother Dutch for a while. He’s suspicious when Dutch, known to Frankie and family as Uncle Dutch, says he wants to bury the hatchet with Tag.
Uncle Dutch is portrayed by legendary TV funnyman Dick Van Dyke, who is 89 years old. Speaking of his younger brother Jerry, 83, he told Entertainment Tonight, “Somehow he talked me into it – to come and play his brother, which we love to do.” The Middle airs Thursdays at 8pm on ABC.
