On the CBS hit sitcom Mom, Christy (Anna Faris) and her mother Bonnie (Allison Janney) are stunned when they discover how prison has transformed their friend Regina. The recurring character Regina is portrayed by Academy Award winning actress Octavia Spencer (The Help). Spencer has had no problem landing roles in film and on TV after her huge movie role.
Although Spencer’s Red Band Society on Fox got canned after two seasons, she’s busy and in demand. Spencer is starring in the highly anticipated sci-fi blockbuster Insurgent with fellow Oscar winner Kate Winslet, Naomi Watts, Shailene Woodley and Ansel Elgort, among others. It’ll be out in theatres March 20. Also this year, Spencer will star in the drama Fathers and Daughters with more Oscar winners — Russell Crowe and Jane Fonda.
