On The CW series The Originals, Freya convinces Finn to bring her to Mikael, the father she hasn’t seen in over a thousand years. That’s not a typo or exaggeration. This is a show about a long-living family of vampires who reside in the city of New Orleans.
Mikael is portrayed by Frenchman Sebastian Roché. In addition to being fluent in four languages – French, English, Italian and Spanish — Roché has a classical theater background (Salome with Al Pacino, The Green Bird with Julie Taymor). To make you feel less accomplished in life, we’ll inform you that as a teenager Roché lived for six years on a sail boat with his family. They traveled from France to various Mediterranean destinations, Africa, and then South America and the Caribbean. Oh, and the ladies like him too. He was first married to the lovely Vera Farmiga (Norma Bates on Bates Motel) and is currently married to the gorgeous Australian actress Alicia Hannah. The Originals airs Mondays at 8pm on The CW.
