Most of the contestants on American Idol don’t recognize the legendary music icon Nile Rodgers. Rodgers launched his career before they were born. But they know his music. Everyone does. Rodgers lead the party-loving disco group Chic in the 70s. They got everyone on the dance floor with “Good Times”, “Dance, Dance, Dance”, “Le Freak”, and “I Want Your Love.” In the 80s, Rodgers became a producer and worked with Madonna (Like A Virgin), David Bowie (Let’s Dance) and Duran Duran (Notorious), among others.
So what’s Rodgers doing on Idol? He’s promoting his first new single in almost twenty years with Chic – “I’ll Be There.” No doubt — Rodgers will be there, on American Idol, on Thursday, March 19, 8pm on Fox.
