Tron: Legacy (2010), the gorgeous long-awaited follow-up to 1982’s Tron, made $400 million. So the studio decided not to wait 28 years this time between films. Walt Disney Pictures has greenlit a third Tron film, according to Vancity Buzz. The same source reports that star Garrett Hedlund will return to play Sam Flynn, as he did in Tron: Legacy.
The Hollywood Reporter says the film has not yet been greenlit, but that Tron: Legacy director Joseph Kosinski is attached. Details to be sorted out, but there is a Tron 3 on the way. It’ll probably start shooting in the fall.
