On Girls, Hannah Horvarth (Lena Dunham) will soon face “a family crisis that calls her maturity into question.” The Horvarth family is trying to sort things out after Hannah’s father, Tad, just came out of the closet. After telling his wife Loreen, they go to dinner at their friends’ house but don’t reveal Tad’s news.
Tad Horvarth is portrayed by Peter Scolari, who said of Tad’s impending future on Girls: “Sometimes in life things have to get as bad as they can be before they get better. Things don’t get better in the last episode [of this season]. Things don’t resolve. [But I was told,] ‘Don’t worry, we’re not going to leave you out there in the wind.” Scolari is best known for his comedic roles on Newhart, Honey, I Shrunk the Kids and Bosom Buddies with Tom Hanks. Scolari recently picked up a villanious role on Gotham this season. He’s been playing the crooked Police Commissioner of Gotham City, Gillian B. Loeb, who is secretly allied with mob boss Carmine Falcone.
