Madonna took a nasty tumble at the Brit Awards in London on Wednesday night, falling down a set of stairs during her performance of “Living for Love.” The mishap occurred after a dancer attempted to remove a cape that she was wearing, dragging her backwards and down the stairs.
The singer quickly recovered, though, and resumed the song almost immediately. Afterwards she posted a message on Instagram, saying the cape had been tied too tight and that she was fine. Ironically, she fell backwards just as she sang the lyric “I let down my guard.” Predictably there has been a viral Internet reaction, with the hashtag #shefellover quickly trending on Twitter.
