They Might Be Giants–the great punk rock band sometimes described as alternative–is launching a busy 2015. Pioneers not only in music but marketing, TMBG has re-engineered it’s innovative Dial-A-Song device and they’re letting fly a song a week. (Dial-A-Song began back in the 1980s when you could actually–wait for it–dial a Brooklyn number and then hear a song.)
This week is Week 1 of the new Dial-A-Song, and the freshest punk in the world is the new TMBG release called ‘Erase’. Even if punk doesn’t quite square with the band’s true claim: “Installing and servicing melody since 1982.” Can’t get enough? There’s always Week 2–the new songs drop every Tuesday. There’s also a monthly gig at the Williamsburg Music Hall. And TMBG hits the road in April.
