Marvel’s new TV series, Agent Carter, premieres Tuesday, January 6 at 8pm on ABC. A major theme of Agent Carter is the sexism the protagonist Peggy Carter (Hayley Atwell) has to deal with in 1946. The men in her office mistake her for a secretary. They think she’s only good for filing and fetching coffee. To keep her mission — to clear Howard Stark’s name — a secret, she plays along with the secretary stereotype in the office and then kicks ass undercover. Just watch what she can do with a stapler.
Agent Carter is filling in for Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., which is on midseason break. It being a Marvel property, Agent Carter will also act as a platform to promote another Marvel title, Ant-Man. The trailer for the highly anticipated film starring Paul Rudd as Ant-Man, will be broadcast during Agent Carter. Ant-Man will be released in July 2015. Lots of viewers are going to tune in to Agent Carter just to watch the trailer. The question is: can Agent Carter convince Ant-Man fans that she’s worthy of watching, too?
