Waltz plays a character who may or may not be fully evil. “It’s not immediately evident whether the part’s friend, or foe, or a bit of both,” a production source is quoted in Vanity Fair. Waltz will carry on the fine tradition of somewhat hammy Europeans who make the best, most charming Bond villains: Javier Bardem, Louis Jordan, Curt Jurgens, and Gert Frobe.
