It’s been a busy year for veteran TV actress Regina King. This fall season, the Southland actress is joining John Ridley’s ABC drama American Crime and she’s reprising her role as Mrs. Janine Davis on The Big Bang Theory. The character Mrs. Davis is the Human Resources Administrator at Caltech, the university where physicists Sheldon (Jim Parsons), Raj (Kunal Nayyar), Howard (Simon Helberg) and Leonard (Johnny Galecki) work. Mrs. Davis first appeared (in 2013) when Sheldon’s sexy assistant Alex filed a sexual harassment complaint against him. Sheldon called Alex a slave to her sexual desires. When trying to defend himself, Sheldon said he wasn’t picking on Alex, all women are slaves to their desires. “Even you. You’re a slave,” Sheldon told Mrs. Davis, a black woman.
Mrs. Davis also appeared in the Big Bang episode “The Hofstadter Insufficiency.” Shy Raj went to a work social to meet women but there he runs into the recently separated Mrs. Janine Davis. While Raj was trying to comfort Mrs. Davis with a poor penguin analogy (Mrs. Davis’ husband left her for young co-ed) there is the possibility that Raj was (inadvertedly?) hitting on Mrs. Davis. Since then Raj has found love; he’s dating Laura Spencer’s Emily. But will another encounter with Mrs. Davis trigger old sparks? Big Bang fans will tune in to find out. Season 8 premieres Monday, September 22 at 8 on CBS.
