Prince is wearing an afro these days. It reflects the new music he’s producing. He has a solo album out, ART OFFICIAL AGE, and he’s written all the songs on PLECTRUMELECTRUM, the album by his band 3RDEYEGIRL. Fans of The Artist once (and now again) known as Prince will get a peek into his royal highness’ legendary, rarely photographed Paisley Park studio on Tuesday, September 30. The Live Nation channel on Yahoo! will live stream a duel-album release party from the studio at 7:30pm PT.
ART OFFICIAL AGE is a classic, R&B-driven Prince record with some funky beats (Breakfast Can Wait) and slow grinds (Breakdown, Clouds, This Could Be Us). PLECTRUMLECTRUM is a combo of Prince’s funk and rock sensibilities as heard in PRETZELBODYLOGIC. Members of 3RDEYEGIRL including guitarist Donna Grantis, bassist Ida Nielsen and drummer Hannah Ford Welton. In addition to “being in love with God,” Hannah is married to Joshua Welton who performs (keyboard, vocals) on Prince’s ART OFFICAL AGE.
