Nine-time Grammy Award winner Mary J. Blige is releasing her thirteenth studio album, The London Sessions. It’s an R&B and soul collaboration with British artists including Disclosure, Emeli Sande, Jimmy Napes, Naughty Boy, Sam Romans and “Stay With Me” Sam Smith. The London Sessions will be released on November 28.
Is Blige taking a note from legendary blues singer Dinah Washington, Queen of the Blues, who made the song “A Foggy Day (in London Town)” a mega hit? Once during a performance at the London Palladium, with Queen Elizabeth sitting in a box seat, Washington told the crowd: “There is but one heaven, one earth and one queen (me) and your Elizabeth is an imposter.” Btw, the late Brit singer Amy Winehouse gave credit to Washington, from whom she “learned to sing.” Fingers crossed that Mary J Blige’s album is a bluesy–maybe even a foggy–one.
