Jennifer Garner (13 Going on 30, Alias) was at first miffed at her husband Ben Affleck (Argo, Gone Girl, Batman) for throwing her in a pool after she doused him with a pail of cold water for an Ice Bucket Challenge video. Her phone was in her back pocket and that was the end of it. Garner went a whole day without it and said “it was so liberating not to have it and not to check it.”
Fans learned about Garner’s day off the grid when she mentioned it during an interview at TIFF to promote her new film Men, Women & Children, which stars Adam Sandler and Rosemarie DeWitt. It’s about how social media affects love and sex in today’s world. Garner said, “Rosemarie and I don’t even use this stuff at all,” she said, referring to social media. She called Twitter a “time suck.” Then Garner turned to Sandler and said: “We sound like we’re 80.” Sandler did not respond, as he might have, “It’s okay, I act like I’m 12.”
