Eric “The Actor” Lynch was as tall as anyone on the phone–and when he called into Howard Stern’s show the radio always lit up. The 3-foot tall Lynch called into the Stern show with regularity for more than a decade, abusing the host and generally spewing hilarious vitriol. (He was a great defender of Kelly Clarkson–that’s how they got started.) “Despite our sometimes testy on-air relationship the entire staff absolutely loved Eric the Actor,” Stern’s website said in reaction to the news of Lynch’s death. The Stern post continued: “When he visited the show in person everyone lined up to take pictures with him. And not just us — celebrities all over the world loved Eric.” Celebrities and regular folks too. Lynch was a lynchpin in Stern’s “Wack Pack.”
Lynch commonly signed off with a simple phrase he came to own: “Bye for now.” It promised his return and with his passing that promise obviously grows empty. In response to his manager Johnny Fratto‘s posting that Lynch has passed, one Twitter user pretty much nailed it, calling Lynch “a small guy with GIANT balls!!” Rest in peace isn’t quite right, but bye for now, Eric “The Actor” Lynch.
So shocked. RIP lil buddy. pic.twitter.com/X78xh3ePgr
