The promotional push that stars have to do for a movie can be a grind. They are asked the same questions hundreds of times during brief interviews with local news affiliates, usually by satellite, and usually in the early hours. The endless round of interviews can get tiring, especially for senior citizens like Morgan Freeman. Kristen Wiig and Bill Hader, however, were in snappy form last week when a TV interviewer made the mistake of asking a question that has nothing to do with their new movie, The Skeleton Twins (best screenplay, Sundance, btw). “Kristen, I am thinking on this program of doing the news completely full-frontal, completely nude,” Chris Parente said before asking, “Do you recommend that, and do you have advice for going nude?” Wiig looked momentarily confused, before she realized that Parente had not seen the movie. She and Hader broke into laughter and mercilessly ripped into the reporter. Repeating the reporter’s query, Wiig asked, “Do I have advice for going nude?” “You do it in the film,” insisted Parente. “Not this film!” Hader then chimes in: “I’m nude in this movie … the movie takes place on Mars… Chris, this is live. Everyone in Denver is asking ‘What movie do we go and see?'”
Parente tried to laugh off the gaffe while Hader asked “Is his face red?” Parente promised to see the movie when it opens in Denver. Just to be clear: neither Wiig nor Hader are naked in The Skeleton Twins. Wiig will however be doing a nude scene in her next film, Welcome to Me. We’re pretty sure Parente will be seeing that one.
