The girl group that P. Diddy assembled during his mid-2000s reality show Making the Band, Danity Kane, is one hot mess. It’s not an opinion, it’s a fact. Leader Aubrey O’Day announced the breakup of the band this week after the violent fight that lead to the band’s demise. In an official statement, O’Day explained on the band’s blog: “my group member punched me in the back of my head while I was speaking to another associate.” The group member was Dawn Richard. Aubrey filed a battery report.
This isn’t the first time Danity Kane has broken up. The girl group started with five members, was whittled down to four and then three–O’Day, Richard, and Bex. It was just a year ago, at the 2013 Video Music Awards on MTV, when a four-member version of the group–including Aundrea Fimbres, the most talented singer–announced their reunion after breaking up in 2009. But Fimbres didn’t last long and left before the latest catfight. Die-hard Danity Kane fans hope Aubrey O’Day and Shannon Bex will persuade Aundrea Fimbres to come back.
