Singer Kylie Minogue is leaving the popular TV program The Voice UK to focus on her career. Fans assume she’s referring to her singing career but rumors are flying it may include her acting career, too. The rumors are based on a mysterious tweet that Minogue posted in July: “So…I bought overalls today.” For those Americans not familiar, in the 1980s Minogue played the feisty, quick tempered, outspoken tomboy Charlene Robinson on the Australian soap opera Neighbours. As Charlene, Minogue liked to wear overalls.
The durable Neighbours will be celebrating its 30th anniversary on the air next year. And a TV special is being produced, to air in March 2015. Minogue’s Charlene character has been mentioned a bit more often in scripts lately. (Charlene’s son Daniel, played by Tim Phillipps, has been introduced to the show.) So Neighbours fans will likely see Minogue again, although now in her late 40s, probably without the tomboy overalls. Unless she meant it literally, that tweet.
