Marvel’s superhero Iron Man will appear in Avengers: Age of Ultron. But fans hoping for a fourth installment to the Iron Man franchise will have to wait until 2019, according to the latest rumors. Robert Downey Jr. said on The Daily Show that he’s interested (duh) in making an Iron Man 4 but “the final decision rests in Marvel’s hands.” That suggests to some that Downey, the highest paid actor in Hollywood, is negotiating an even higher salary for Iron Man 4.
But not everyone is convinced Iron Man 4 will happen. Sean O’Connell at CinemaBlend says: “Iron Man 4 could get pushed to the backburner simply because the studio’s production slate is too full. There are only so many movies Marvel can release in a calendar year.” That’s not to say Iron Man can’t make cameos in those other superhero features. You know, to feed the frenzy and make sure RJD has food on the table.
