Harlem hip hop artist A$AP Rocky is a member of the A$AP Mob, a collective of rappers, music producers, video directors, and fashion designers all who use the A$AP moniker a la A$AP Ferg, A$AP Nast. There’s a reason why A$AP Rocky is the leader of the mob: he oozes style. So much so that when interviewed by British fashion magazine i-D he had to explain why he has no desire to create his own line. “Imagine if Rick Owens or Alexander Wang said, ‘I’m gonna be the next rapper.’ Fucking up the game and shit.” But just because A$AP doesn’t want his own line doesn’t mean he won’t collaborate with big brands like Adidas (he has) and Timberland boots (he will).
But before you see a pair of A$AP Rocky Timberland boots walking across 125th Street, fans will be listening to A$AP Mob’s first studio album, L.O.R.D., available August 25, 2014.
