The boy band 5 Seconds of Summer, nominated for ‘Artist to Watch’ at the 2014 Video Music Awards, reminds many people of Green Day (just look at Michael Clifford, he’s an Australian version of Billie Joe Armstrong). The boys of 5SOS are big Green Day fans—they claim that the first music video they remember watching is “Jesus of Suburbia.” But it turns out they might adore Usher more.
During an interview with MTV, 5SOS collectively said the one artist they would love to interview on the VMA red carpet, would like to get a selfie with–would be Usher. Given the choice to kiss a VMA personality–Britney, Miley or Madonna–they’d still choose Usher! Be sure to watch for Luke, Ashton, Michael and Calum on the VMA red carpet, they’re telling fans they plan to wear booty shorts. And if they win “Artist to Watch” fans expect 5SOS will do something crazy. Fingers crossed that they’ll reenact their favorite music video of all time, “What’s My Age Again?” by blink-182. The band runs naked on the streets of Los Angeles.
