A Facebook page has been quickly organized to try to get Khadijah Lynch expelled from Brandeis University after the junior tweeted that she had “no sympathy for the nypd officers who were murdered today.” Lynch repeated the sentiment the next day, December 21, adding “lmao”–indicating that she thought the crime worth of “laugh my ass off.” Her comments have provoked anger and heartbreak, with Facebook users pointing out the inhumanity of Lynch’s statements and drawing special attention to the fact that one of the victims, Officer Ramos, leaves behind a 13-year-old son.
“The purpose of this page is to get this woman expelled from Brandeis and exposed for the racist that she is!” writes Jane Fields. Lynch had previously commented that “America needs an intifada. Enough is enough.” The Expel Khadijah Lynch movement is gaining ground. Several users have posted to Brandeis president Fred Lawrence’s page, urging Lawrence to take action. One user posted: “Just wrote the college president, the provost, director of financial aid and the chair of the department of African and Afro-American Studies. I encourage all of you to do the same.”
