Evan Terry Forbes used to be a homebody. But when a friend convinced him to go on a trip around the world, at the age of 20, Forbes never returned to his American suburban roots. He wrote a book “Eye on the Road” about his year of global enlightenment and now considers Panama City the closest thing to home. When there, he blogs about his everyday life including his unpaid “internship” at one of his favorite corner bodegas.
Forbes, now 28, is currently traveling and house-sitting through Europe with his mom. First stop was an English cottage, then on to Cyprus to care for a villa with eight cats. They’re now in Italy where the accommodations have run from sleeping on an overnight train (“hotter than a pizza oven”) to a farmhouse in Tuscany which included cooking classes. He’s fun to follow: you never know where he’s going next. No doubt part of the charm is that neither, as far as we can tell, does he.
