The New York Times reports that pop mega star Taylor Swift now has more No. 1 albums than any woman in history. Her latest album, ‘Speak Now (Taylor’s Version)’ just debuted at No. 1 this week, making it Swift’s 12th No. 1 album.
The 33-year-old singer and songwriter who launched her career in the country music industry, just surpassed Barbra Streisand, 81, for “the most chart-toppers by a woman.”
Note: Canadian rapper Drake has 12 No. 1 albums, too; Jay-Z has 14, and the Beatles had 19.
Streisand has one honor Swift is not yet close to attaining: Streisand is one of few performers to have won all four major performing arts awards: an Emmy, Grammy, Oscar, and Tony (EGOT).
In the entertainment industry, the highest of all accolades is to receive at least one Emmy, Grammy, Oscar, and Tony award — the EGOT. With her 11 Grammys and her win at the 2015 Emmys, Taylor Swift is halfway through joining the few that possess this prestigious status. pic.twitter.com/kNPNcKvpI9

Swift has won 12 Grammys and one Emmy Award (in 2015). As noted by the Taylor Swift Museum (above), “she’s halfway through joining the few that possess this prestigious status.” Swift would need an Oscar and a Tony to become an EGOT.
Last time Swift appeared on the big screen was in the 2022 David O. Russell film Amsterdam (see above) with Oscar winner Christian Bale, two-time Oscar nominee Margot Robbie, and John David Washington.
Note: Earlier this month, in a private ceremony, Supreme Court Justice Sonia Sotomayor presented Streisand with the 2023 Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg Woman of Leadership Award.
