Actress Mariska Hargitay is best known for her role as NYPD Captain Olivia Benson the long-running crime drama Law & Order: Special Victims Unit. While she often shares the screen with singers including rapper Ice-T (Finn) and Broadway star Betty Buckley (Lorraine Maxwell), Hargitay is not know as a singer… until now.
As seen in the video above, Hargitay (with production assistant Halle Kaufaux) sing the Roy Orbison song ‘Blue Bayou’ also made famous by Linda Ronstadt. Hargitay reports and encourages her fans to: “Do something you’re scared of today!I sang one of my favorite songs in front of @blbuckley!!!! Took me about four months to get the nerve up.”
Fans are going wild over the video. As one fan replied: “Queen can sing too??? She can do everything 💅🏼 we need an album asap.”
Note: Hargitay also mentioned that her goal is to one day sing the song with mega star singer and TV host Kelly Clarkson, whom she tagged.
For those not familiar with Buckley’s resume: she won a Tony Award for her performance in Cats in 1983. Check out YouTube where she sings one of Broadway’s most famous songs, ‘Memory.’
