When not promoting her upcoming movie Shazam! Fury of the Gods with Zachary Levi and Dame Helen Mirren (see video below), actress Lucy Liu (Charlie’s Angels, Kill Bill, Vol 1, Chicago) is promoting New York Times bestseller Celeste Ng‘s new novel, Our Missing Hearts.
As seen below, Lucy, who narrated the audiobook, says it’s “my first full audiobook.”
The protagonist of Our Missing Hearts (Little Brown) is 12-year-old Bird Gardner who lives with his father, “a former linguist who now shelves books in Harvard’s library. In the dystopian story, “libraries have been forced to remove books seen as unpatriotic – including the work of Bird’s mother, Margaret, a Chinese American poet who left the family when he was nine years old.” When Bird receives “a mysterious letter containing only a cryptic drawing, he is drawn into a quest” to find his mother.
Celeste Ng is also the author of Everything I Never Told You and Little Fires Everywhere, which was made into a series starring Reese Witherspoon and Kerry Washington.
