The big news on Broadway is that former Glee star Lea Michele is taking on the role of Fanny Brice in the revival musical of Funny Girl at the August Wilson Theatre in New York City.
Barbra Streisand, who first gave life to the character, hasn’t commented yet on Lea Michele’s performance yet but just a few days before Michele’s opening night, Streisand wrote about her “first dog ever,” Sadie, who she had while filming the 1968 movie Funny Girl with Omar Sharif.
With the photo above, Streisand reveals that her husband Jim Brolin “took this picture when I rescued this little baby girl (@remy401maltipoo) who reminded me of my first dog ever… Sadie, when I was doing Funny Girl.”
Streisand famously sings the song “Sadie, Sadie” in the film, after Fanny is asked what it’s like to be married.
