Rock star Courtney Love, lead singer of the band Hole and widow of Nirvana’s Kurt Cobain, has been living in the UK during the global pandemic. When not horseback riding or reading Hart Crane poetry, the 57-year-old singer decided to chop off her long blonde hair for a pixie cut as seen below. She captioned the series: “LIBERTE!” (translated: “Freedom”).
Courtney’s fans are going wild for the new look and dropping compliments in the comments including “Stunning!’ and “gorgeous” and “love the new look.” Supermodel Helena Christensen replied: “How lovely you look” with a red heart emoji.
Some fans are finding a resemblance to the legendary singer/actress Dame Julie Andrews (The Sound of Music, Victor/Victoria, The Princess Diaries). “Strong Julie Andres vibes,” wrote one fan.
For the 1997 Us magazine cover photo series above, Courtney says she was trying to be “ironic Pamela (Anderson)” and remembers seeing billboards of the image all over LA and being embarrassed. But now she thinks it’s “cool.”
