The Broadway sensation Cats by Andrew Lloyd Webber inspired by the work of T.S. Eliot is headed to theaters, and the T.S. who Webber hired to write the lyrics for “Beautiful Ghosts” is Taylor Swift. The director Tom Hooper (The King’s Speech, Les Miserables) says Swift’s lyrics are “profound” and “utterly thrilling.” Here’s a taste.
Andrew Lloyd Webber says he knew as soon as he read the screenplay that the film needed a song for Victoria, the character through whose eyes the film is seen and told. Webber and Swift co-wrote the song.
Swift writes: “I was so excited when @andrewlloydwebber asked me to write an original song with him for @catsmovie.” “Beautiful Ghosts” is the result of their collaboration.
