Ice-T is making movie-style videos, blending his acting and rap prowess to create suspense-filled visual and aural spectacles like mini Godfathers and Scarfaces. The “Too Old for Dumb Shit” trilogy — directed by Jay Scorsese — features Ice as a gangster being pursued by the Feds, who have a snitch inside Ice’s operation. Put it this way: you wouldn’t want to be the snitch.
When Ice-T says at the start that he’s seeing the same car over and over, suspecting things are about to tumble, his crew tells him he’s buggin’. But Ice knows and says “paranoid is a safe state of mind.”
This film is part the “Too Old” trilogy, along with “Feds in My Rearview” (below). Part 3 coming soon. Hopefully also with little 3-year-old Chanel Nicole and Ice-T’s faithful Coco, who give the “Too Old” video its most (its only) tender moment.
The video shows Ice-T celebrating the duality of home and street life, the same way he has been celebrating the duality of his entertainment life (rap icon, TV star) for nearly two decades. This drop is nice.
As one fan writes: “ICE MF T bringing the heat. Bars on top of bars… I can rock with this ALL DAY. Shit seem so real it’s scary… Great storytelling and errthang!”
Ice-T gets back to work on TV soon too, as Law & Order: Special Victims Unit returns for its 21st season on Thursday, Sept. 26 at 10 pm on NBC.
