On the Teen Mom OG episode “Father’s Day Follies,” while Maci and her husband Taylor travel to Atlanta for Bentley’s baseball tournament, Catelynn and her husband Tyler stay at home and celebrate the tenth birthday of their first child, Carly, who was adopted by a couple (Brandon and Teresa) after her birth.
In the sneak peek video below, a producer asks Tyler what kind of advice he would give to people who are considering placing their children for adoption.
Tyler answers: “Just make sure the family that you want your baby raised with you know very, very well.” He adds, “Me and Cate we knew Brandon and Teresa were a little more reserved than we were.” In retrospect, he might have looked for parents who were “kind of just relaxed” like he and Cate.
Tyler also points out that Brandon and Teresa probably didn’t expect that their daughter’s birth parents would have cameras around them for ten years and that they’d be talked about for ten years.
