No one who knows her would call sincere pop superstar Selena Gomez “two-faced” — but she’s happy to share that in at least one way that’s exactly what she is. Every human face is asymmetrical — meaning the left side of the face and the right side of the face don’t match up exactly. (There’s a scientific name for the facial asymmetry — the mismatched left and right sides of the face are called chirality.)
But facial asymmetry doesn’t just mean the two sides look different. It also means they act differently. We have different levels of control over the left sides and right sides of our faces, in the same way we may be left-handed or right-handed. In the video below, Gomez demonstrates her sweet two-faced self while wearing no (or very little) makeup and overlooking the ocean.
