It’s down to the Top 13 artists on Season 16 of The Voice. Only five of the Top 13 are women. Reigning champion coach Kelly Clarkson doesn’t have any female finalists while John Legend has two (Maelyn Jarmon and Celia Babini), and Blake Shelton has two — Oliv Blu and Kim Cherry. Adam Levine has just one female vocalist left: the 20-year-old cosmetologist from Clermont, Florida — Mari.
For her Top 13 live performance, Mari sings the Ashanti song “Foolish.” It was the R&B singer’s debut single from her self-titled debut album in 2002. It’s a song about a woman who’s still in love with her ex — although she hates him at the same time. Love is complicated but you can expect Mari to make advancing into the Top 8 look easy after her “Foolish” performance. Just four days before her Top 13 live performance, Mari posted a photo of herself looking as cool as ever but without her signature eyeglasses. The caption reads: “ya’ll ever just mean mug with ya coffee?” The Voice airs Mondays and Tuesdays at 8 pm on NBC.
