Oscar-winning actor Jamie Foxx (Ray) posed with his rumored lady friend Katie Holmes as the 2019 Met Gala. But just five days before that — in an even more intriguing pic for some — Foxx was posing with former boxing champ Mike Tyson. Foxx shared the black-and-white photo of the two legends with matching bald heads and beards on Instagram with the caption “Thank u for the trust… one step closer” with the hashtag #thejourneybegins.

The journey actually started in 2014. That’s when Variety first broke the news that Foxx was to play Tyson in a biopic. (Tyson, 52, is just six months older than Foxx, 51.) It was reported that Foxx’s manager, Rick Yorn (The Wolf of Wall Street, The Aviator, Gangs of New York), was to produce, and Terence Winter (The Sopranos, Boardwalk Empire, Vinyl) was to the write the screenplay. Remember: Foxx played boxing cornerman Bundini Brown in Ali starring Will Smith.
In the meantime, Foxx will appear next on the big screen in the 2020 film Just Mercy about civil rights defense attorney Bryan Stevenson (played by Michael B. Jordan). Foxx will play Stevenson’s client Walter McMillian, a man who was exonerated after serving six years on Alabama’s death row for a crime (the murder of Ronda Morrison) he did not commit.
