The protagonist of the Hallmark Channel movie True Love Blooms is urban gardener Vicki. While fighting to save her community garden she meets Chase (Jordan Bridges, Rizzoli & Isles), the handsome real estate developer who wants to build condos over her garden. He doesn’t understand why she can’t just plant flowers somewhere else. Vicki tries to show him why — and they fall in love in the process.
Vicki is portrayed by Sara Rue who grew up in New York City. When the actress was a little girl, her parents helped to keep a New York City community garden on 96th Street and Broadway, which was eventually taken over by a developer. Her story inspired the movie.
