In The Resident episode “Betrayal,” the surgeons work together to save the life of the Raptor’s (Malcolm-Jamal Warner) old mentor, Abe Benedict, who is their only inside source to Quovadis. When Abe in found in his home shot and left for dead, many of the doctors suspect foul play (and they’re right!). Things get worse for Abe when a patient needs the hospital’s only viable ECMO machine, which forces Nic (Emily VanCamp) and Conrad (Matt Czuchry) to decide between saving the life of Abe or saving the life of their younger, more stable patient.
Abe is portrayed by Mike Pniewski. He’s known for his roles on The Good Fight and The Good Wife with Matt Czuchry! (DNC chair Frank Landau), Madam Secretary (Gordon Becker), Halt and Catch Fire (Barry Shields), Drop Dead Diva (Amos Hanson), and Law & Order: Criminal Intent (Chief of Detectives Kenny Moran), among many others.
