In the Young Sheldon (the Big Bang Theory prequel) episode “A Race of Superhumans and a Letter to Alf,” while Georgie (Montana Jordan) joins his mother Mary’s (Zoe Perry) bible study to spend more time with his crush, Veronica Duncan (Isabel May), genius Sheldon (Iain Armitage) experiments on his “dumb” sister Missy (Raegan Revord). During the experiment, TV watcher Missy writes a letter to TV character ALF (short for Alien Life Form), a sarcastic, friendly extraterrestrial who crash-lands in the garage of a suburban middle-class family in the mid-1980s.

Alf is voiced by puppeteer Paul Fusco, who was creator, writer, producer and director of the show ALF. Sony Pictures Animation acquired the rights to ALF in 2012 and announced plans to develop the property into a CGI-live action hybrid feature. And then in August 2018, Warner Bros. announced it will produce an ALF Reboot. ALF most recently made an appearance on Mr. Robot during a dream that parodies mid 1980s sitcoms. Young Sheldon airs Thursdays at 8:30 pm on CBS, right after The Big Bang Theory.
