In the Bull episode “A Higher Law”, Bull (Michael Weatherly) meets a priest, Father Andy, who’s charged in a fatal hit-and-run after he’s found behind the wheel of the church van involved in the crash. The priest tells Bull that the actual driver confessed to him but he cannot reveal that person’s identity due to the confidentiality that comes with confession.

When Bull asks Andy why he’s willing to spend 15 to 20 years in prison for something he didn’t do, Andy tries to explain to Bull that “confession is a gift of grace and a way back to God for those who are lost. It saves lives and souls.” While Andy says, “this is not a choice for me,” Bull has to decide whether or not to help prove his innocence.

Father Andy is portrayed by actor William Sadler. He’s known for his roles on 50 Cent’s Power (Tony Teresi), The Blacklist (Sam Milhoan), Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. (President Ellis), Hawaii Five-0 (Steve’s father Jack McGarrett), Homeland (Michael Higgins), Damages (Helmut Torben), Roswell (Sheriff Jim Valenti), and Star Trek: Deep Space Nine (Sloan), among many others.
Sadler is also recognized for his roles in the films The Shawshank Redemption (inmate Heywood), Die Hard 2 (Stuart), and Bill & Ted’s Bogus Journey (as the Grim Reaper). Sadler will reprise his role as the Grim Reaper after 20 years for the forthcoming sequel Bill & Ted Face the Music with the original stars Keanu Reeves and Alex Winter. Bull airs Mondays at 10 pm on CBS, right after Magnum P.I. [CBS streaming: Stream any CBS show through Amazon Prime or CBS ALL-ACCESS. Both options offer free trials.]
Bill & Ted’s Excellent Adventure and Bogus Journey are both incredible. I’d go as far and say the second movie is even better than the first because of characters like Station, the robots and Cinema’s best Grim Reaper ever aka William Sadler 😂 pic.twitter.com/Ls3ISYTt7R
