Ricki Lake is the host of the show. The 50-year-old native New Yorker won a Daytime Emmy Award for hosting her own talk show.
In addition to hosting her own talk show Ricki Lake (1993-2004), Lake is a mother of two sons (Milo, 21, and Owen, 17), and an actress. She’s known for her roles as Tracy Turnblad in John Waters’ 1988 cult classic Hairspray, as Holly “the Donut Dolly” Pelegrino on China Beach, and as Doug Heffernan’s sister Stephanie on The King of Queens, among others. In 2008, Lake produced the documentary film The Business of Being Born (which showed the water birth of her second son, Owen), and in 2011 she competed on Dancing with the Stars (Season 13) — she and her dance pro partner Derek Hough came in third place. Unexpected airs Sundays at 10 pm on TLC.
