Amidst increased scrutiny and questions by healthcare professionals and the media about President Donald Trump’s neurological health — about whether or not there is something off-kilter in the president’s brain — Senator Elizabeth Warren cuts right to the word “insane” to describe the current U.S. political system. Warren isn’t using the word to describe Trump’s mental condition, but rather his purported avarice. “It’s insane,” Warren says, “that we have to beg the president of the United States to put the American people ahead of his own business interests. Insane.” And that was back in August, before the president’s recent post-midterm moves like ousting Attorney General Jeff Sessions — mostly for recusing himself from the “witch hunt” of Robert Mueller‘s investigation, which is reportedly looking at Trump’s finances, possible emoluments, and other conflicts of interest in pursuing the truth of Russia’s election meddling.
But Trump isn’t alone in facing accusations of corruption. As Warren stumps for her #EndCorruptionNow initiative (see tweets below), she’s touting legislation to holistically fix the deceitful rewards system that keeps the so-called Washington swamp so swampy. Warren’s anti-corruption bill is a charge against the entrenched brigade of lobbyists and other full-time Beltway denizens (in Congress and out) who sap power from the people using big, big concentrations of money. The re-elected Warren says the newly configured House of Representatives is constructed to fight for the renewal of the people’s power. (For example, Senators ruling on Facebook’s transparency obligations should not at the same time be holders of Facebook stock.)
The government is currently “rigged,” Warren says. “The wealthy and well-connected want to keep Americans divided and stop us from fighting back against a rigged system. But change is coming to Washington, and we’re going to put the power back where it belongs – in the hands of the people.”

Americans know Washington isn’t working for them. But instead of giving up, more and more people are demanding a government that is run by the people, for the people – and my plan to #EndCorruptionNow would do just that. https://t.co/b47OCAhHjy
