In the How To Get Away with Murder episode “It’s Her Kid,” Annalise (Viola Davis) and Detective Nate Lahey, Jr. (Billy Brown) look to get Nate’s dad a psych evaluation so that they can have his murder case re-tried under an insanity plea. Believe it or not, that’s not Annalise’s biggest challenge. Nate Lahey, Sr., by the way, is portrayed by Glynn Turman.
[Check out Turman as the Mayor on The Wire]
Actor Glynn Turman, a native New Yorker, is known for his roles on Fly (Capt. David Davenport), House of Lies (Jeremiah Kaan), The Wire (Mayor Clarence V. Royce, see link above), and A Different World (Colonel Brad Taylor), among others. Turman got his big TV break when he landed the role of Lew Miles on the 1968 primetime soap opera Peyton Place with Mia Farrow and Ryan O’Neal. Prior to that, when 13, Turman landed the role of Travis Younger in the landmark play “A Raisin in the Sun” on Broadway in 1959 with Sidney Poitier and Ruby Dee. Oh, and Turman was once married to the late great Miss Aretha Franklin (1978-1984): they co-wrote the song “I’m Your Speed.” What a life! How to Get Away with Murder airs Thursdays at 10 pm on ABC, right after Station 19.
That’s young Turman under Poiter’s hand on stage…
