On the Magnum P.I. episode “Death is Only Temporary,” while Rick (Zachary Knighton) and TC (Stephen Hill) get a fellow vet who’s in a wheelchair to go surfing in the ocean, Magnum (Jay Hernandez) is approached by aging tycoon Henry Brown. Brown, who is suffering from dementia, asks Magnum to track down his lost love who recently contacted him. The problem is: she died 30 years ago.

Tycoon Henry Brown is portrayed by triple threat entertainer Ben Vereen. The 72-year-old launched his career on stage (he won a Tony Award in 1973 for Pippin, see photo below). As a TV and film actor he’s known for his roles on Amazon’s Sneaky Pete (Porter, see link above), How I Met Your Mother (Sam Gibbs), Silk Stalkings (Captain Ben Hutchinson), Webster (Uncle Phillip), Roots (“Chicken” George Moore), and in the musical films All That Jazz (O’Connor Flood) and Funny Lady with Barbara Streisand and James Caan (Bert Robbins), among many others. Magnum P.I. airs Mondays at 9 pm on CBS, right after Happy Together and right before Bull.
