On The Big Bang Theory episode, “The Tam Turbulence,” while Bernadette (Melissa Rauch) and Penny (Kaley Cuoco) take out Raj’s fiancée Anu (Rati Gupta) for dinner, Leonard (Johnny Galecki) does some investigative work. He’s curious about Sheldon’s (Jim Parsons) high school best friend, Tam, whom he hasn’t mentioned until now. When Tam shows up on the campus of CalTech, Sheldon reveals that he’s still holding a grudge — after 15 years — and accuses Tam of betrayal.
Tam is portrayed by Robert Wu. He’s known for his roles on LeBron James’ Survivor’s Remorse on Starz (Chinese billionaire basketball shoe mogul Da Chen Bao who’s dating the basketball star’s mother), The Shield (Scooby), and in the films Ted (Asian Man “Ming”) and X-Men Origins: Wolverine (David Nord aka Agent Zero), among others. Wu also provides voices for Family Guy including Mr. Washee-Washee. The Big Bang Theory airs Thursdays at 8pm on CBS, right before Young Sheldon.
