On the This Is Us episode “Vietnam,” a young Jack Pearson (Milo Ventimiglia) makes a decision that will change the rest of his life. He’s seen working on a car in a garage in Pennsylvania, having a heart-to-heart conversation with his little brother Nicky. Both Pearson boys are drafted into the Vietnam War, but only one comes home. This Is Us creator Dan Fogelman brought in acclaimed author and Vietnam veteran Tim O’Brien (The Things They Carried) to consult for the show.
Jack’s little brother Nicky is portrayed by Michael “Mikey” Angarano. The 30-year-old actor is known for his roles on I’m Dying Up Here (Eddie), Mom (Cooper), and The Knick (Dr. Chickering), among others. As a child actor, Angarrano is known for his roles on Will & Grace (Jack’s son Elliot) and in the films Almost Famous and Seabiscuit, among others. He’s currently In a Relationship with Emma Roberts, see below. This Is Us airs Tuesdays at 9 pm on NBC, right after The Voice.
