In the Magnum P.I. episode “The Woman Who Never Died,” Magnum (Jay Hernandez) takes on a case from private eye Luther Gillis (guest star Ken Jeong, Dr. Ken, Community). The client realizes that his comatose fiancée Tara (a victim of a hit and run) has had extensive facial surgery, and now he wants to know who he’s really engaged to. The Honolulu Police Department assigns Detective Gordon Katsumoto to the hit and run case. Magnum sarcastically calls him “a ray of sunshine.”
[Check out Kang as Cho on The Mentalist]
Ray of sunshine Det. Katsumoto is portrayed by Tim Kang. The San Francisco native is known for his roles on The Vampire Diaries (Oscar), The Mentalist (Agent Cho, see above, he’s awesome), and Third Watch (Detective Kent Yoshihara), among others. Kang is also recognized for his roles in the films A Wrinkle in Time (the school superintendent) and Rambo (En-Joo). Fun facts: Kang made his debut on a 2002 episode of The Sopranos as Dr. Harrison Wong. Magnum P.I. airs Mondays at 9pm on CBS.
