On the fourth night of Blind Auditions on Season 15 of The Voice, gorgeous 35-year-old mom Sandy Redd from Chicago sings the song “River.” Right away Adam Levine and Jennifer Hudson turn around. (Kelly Clarkson and Blake Shelton hit their buttons too.) Everyone is impressed with her stage presence, which matches the lyric: “Shut your mouth and run me like a river.” At the end of the performance, Jennifer throws both her shoes on stage (as she’s known to do when showing respect). And then one by one, the other judges present her with “gifts” – Adam leaves a sneaker; Kelly, leaves one of her red satin jackets; and Blake leaves his drink.
[Bishop Briggs’ Church of Scars includes “River”]
“River” is a Bishop Briggs song. Bishop Briggs is the 26-year-old British singer who released her debut album Church of Scars in April 2018 (it includes “River”). Briggs says “River” is all about tension and release. “It’s about staring someone in the face and not backing down.” Briggs is also known for covering the INXS song “Never Tear Us Apart” which is featured in the Fifty Shades Freed soundtrack. The Voice airs Mondays and Tuesdays at 8pm on NBC.
