During the qualifiers of World of Dance Season 2, judges Jennifer Lopez, Derek Hough and Ne-Yo watched the contemporary male duo MarInspired perform. It was a first on World of Dance — two men dancing together alone. As MarInspired, Wyatt Rocker and Charles Fournier performed to the Julia Michaels song “Issues” and gave JLo “goosies.” She was so moved by the dance, she stood to applaud the two men and gave them a score of 96 out of 100. For the Duels, MarInspired dance to the Harry Styles song “Sign of the Times.” (See link below.) Styles said that the power ballad was written “from a point of view as if a mother was giving birth to a child and there’s a complication. The mother is told, ‘The child is fine, but you’re not going to make it.’ The mother has five minutes to tell the child, ‘Go forth and conquer.'” Styles said his mother cried when she first heard it.
[‘Sign of the Times’ is on Harry Styles’ debut solo album]
[‘Issues’ is on Julia Michaels’ Nervous System album]
MarInspired is dueling against trio Dragon House who eked into the Duels with a score of 80. Think the animation dance troupe from Atlanta can compete against such an emotional performance by Marinspired — and set to such an emotional song? World of Dance has moved to its new day and time – Wednesdays at 8pm on NBC.
