One of the most memorable couples from Season 1 of 90 Day Fiancé: Before the 90 Days is Paul and Karine. Paul is the 34-year-old IT guy from Louisville, Kentucky who fell in love with Karine, a 21-year-old hottie in Brazil. After “dating” online, Paul went to the remote town on the Amazon river where Karine lives. She doesn’t speak English, and he doesn’t speak Portuguese. Paul proposed and got her father’s blessing but that was before the family found out about Paul’s criminal record which includes arson and a restraining order from an ex-girlfriend. On Season 2 of 90 Day Fiance, Before the 90 Days, Paul is headed back to Brazil where Karine says she wants to get married. She has also asked Paul to buy and bring a number of “childish” stuff animals and unicorn shoes.
Paul is concerned that Karine’s ex-cop father will revoke his blessing after reviewing his criminal record. Paul is also worried about Karine, who he sees is flirting with other American men online. He believes Karine may be trying to leave her options open, “but I don’t want to be a meal ticket to come to America.” 90 Day Fiance: Before the 90 Days airs Sundays at 8pm on TLC.
