Teen singer and guitarist Macey Mac, 14, is competing on Season 13 of America’s Got Talent. The young musician can sing any genre – country, R&B, rock, and gospel – but she favors music from the 60s and 70s. She’s a big fan of Janis Joplin, Linda Ronstadt, Aretha Franklin and Dolly Parton, to name a few. Macey Mac, who is originally from Mississippi, describes herself as “a true southern hippie.” Her first mentor was Gypsy Carns aka The Mississippi Blues Preacher. Together they made the album RED HOT. (SEE LINK BELOW: Gypsy wrote all the songs.)
Macey and her family now live in Ocala, Florida. In November 2017, Macey won the Marion County Idol Competition after performing a powerful, acoustic version of The Animals’ 1964 folk rock song “House of the Rising Sun.” Check out Macey’s amazing performance below. New episodes of America’s Got Talent air Tuesdays at 8pm on NBC, right before World of Dance.
