On World of Dance, Royal Flux performs to the song “Don’t You Cry For Me” by Cobi. “Please help me chop this tree down” is a line in the chorus of the 2016 song. When interviewed on NPR, Cobi (a native of Minnesota) described the song as “a reflection of the times we’re living in. The reality is that people can no longer hide their acts of injustice. Now that the victims are hanging before us, we are all drastically impacted and affected.” The tree represents injustice. World of Dance airs Tuesdays at 10pm on NBC, right after America’s Got Talent.
